There’s something undeniably special about a Central Oregon wedding tucked into the trees—and Kyle and Rachel’s wedding at Skyliners Lodge was exactly that. Their celebration took place outdoors, behind the lodge overlooking the Tumalo River, surrounded by towering pines and the kind of quiet forest energy that makes this venue so loved.
This wedding also holds a special place for us at The Stray Bar. It was one of our earlier weddings with the mobile bar trailer, and it reflects the kind of intentional, guest-focused experience we aim to create at every event.
An Outdoor Ceremony with Unexpected (and Perfect) Weather
Kyle and Rachel’s ceremony was anything but ordinary. Just as they exchanged vows, a brief storm rolled in—thunder, rain, and all. While some might see that as bad luck, this moment carried deeper meaning. The groom is a storm chaser, and for him—and everyone who knows him—the weather felt intentional, symbolic, and oddly perfect. The rain passed as quickly as it arrived, leaving behind a moment no one there will ever forget.
Thoughtful Design Brought to Life Outdoors
The design of the day was a true collaboration between Katy Kamali and the bride, and it showed in every detail. Together, they created a vision that felt intentional, romantic, and perfectly suited to the forest setting.
Vintage glassware added character and warmth to the tables, while the sweetheart table became a quiet focal point of the reception. A gold arch framed the space, wrapped in florals and paired with candlesticks set in beautiful vintage brass holders. Everything was styled outdoors, allowing the design to live naturally within the trees rather than feeling staged or overdone.
It was one of those setups where nothing felt extra—just thoughtful choices, layered textures, and a clear vision brought to life.
A Streamlined Bar Menu That Just Worked
The Stray Bar mobile bar trailer was set up near the reception space, making it easy for guests to grab a drink and get right back to the celebration. Our favorite approach to weddings is a streamlined bar menu—one that moves quickly, feels intentional, and keeps lines short without sacrificing quality.
A few months before the wedding, we connected with Kyle and Rachel to dial in their bar details. We walked through drink ideas, shared examples, talked through flavor preferences, and fine-tuned the exact ingredients they wanted served. The result was a bar menu that felt personal and well thought out—without being overly complicated.
Their signature cocktails included:
Aperol Spritz – light, refreshing, and perfect for a summer forest wedding
Kentucky Mule – bold, familiar, and a crowd favorite
The bar also featured a curated wine selection and a local IPA, giving guests variety while keeping service efficient and smooth all night long.
